[Feb 08, 2010] CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL PROTECTION REFORMS IN ASIA IN JAKARTA...
On 26-27 Feb 2010, I will participate in a conference in Jakarta held by Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). This conference will be the second meeting for researchers around the region to discuss about reforms of their respective countries' social protection systems. I will share information about Vietnamese system. 

[Jan 26, 2010] INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM IN TOKYO ON POLICIES IN ASIAN IN POST-CRISIS 
On 20 Feb. 2010 I will participate and present a paper on social protection policies in Vietnam at an international symposium held by Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Japan. The main theme of this symposium is about contemporary public policies of Asian countries in the post-crisis period. Various topics on labor, social security, and economic recovery will be discussed.

[Jan 14, 2010] JOINT WORKSHOP BY VDF, JARI AND JETRO ON FUEL QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
On 15 Jan. 2010, VDF will jointly hold a workshop with JARI and JETRO on automobile/motorbike fuel quality improvement in Vietnam. Presentations will focus on a number of topics related to this issue, such as health effects of air pollution. To see further, click here.

From 16 Jan. to 18 Jan. 2010, GDN Annual Conference will be held at Prague, Czech Republic. I will attend the conference, and present my paper under the Medal Award Competition 2010. 

[Jan 9, 2010] VDF SEMINAR ON FINANCIAL MARKET SUPERVISION IN VIETNAM...
On 14 Jan. 2010, VDF will hold a seminar with a series of presentations on financial market supervision in Vietnam. VDF researchers and collaborators will present the current structure of the system, and then provide policy suggestions to improve its efficiency and effectiveness.

[Dec 30, 2009] PAG SEMINAR ON PRE-1995 PENSION SCHEME IN VIETNAM...
On 12-13 January, the Policy Advisory Group (PAG) - a joint policy research project between MoF and UNDP - will hold a seminar to discuss about repaying the contributions of the pre-1995 social insurance scheme's participants. This is an important issue for stablizing government budget in the coming time.

[Nov 30, 2009] PAPER ON INT'L REMITTANCES IS SHORT-LISTED BY GDN MEDAL AWARD 2009...
My paper on the impacts of international remittances on household welfare has been short-listed in 2009 GDN Medal Award for Research on Development. It will be presented in Prague, Czech Republic for final evaluation 16-18 Jan. 2010. Many thanks to Prof. Wade Pfau (GRIPS) for his insightful instruction.

[Nov 15, 2009] WORKSHOP ON SOCIAL PROTECTION IN JAKARTA AND SEOUL
During 20-22 Nov., 2009 I will be in a workshop on social protection in Asia, held be the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). I will make a presentation on economic growth and development of social protection system in Vietnam, as well as its challenges under influential socio-economic and climate changes.
Also, during 25-26 Nov., 2009, I will go to Korea/OECD Center in Seoul, Korea to make a presentation on the pension scheme in Vietnam with its development, challenges and policy proposals. This trip is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the project Developing Asia's Pension Systems : Overview and Reform Directions.  

[Nov 09, 2009] PRESENTATION AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OFFICE ON AGING AND POLICY CHALLENGES
Being invited by the Committe for Social Affrairs of the National Assembly Office, on 9 November I will make a presentation on aging and policy challenges in Vietnam. This presentation aims to provide current and future trends of aging in Vietnam, as well as various economic, health and social protection challenges that Vietnam needs to prepare from now.
