[Aug 19, 2010] WORLD DEMOGRAPHIC AND AGEING FORUM (WDA) IN SWITZERLAND
During 25-28 August I will attend the Congress of WDA on Global Aging in University of St. Gallen. This is a really big and imporant event for practices and studies on aging issues at global level. This year is expected to provide various information on policy responses of different countries on aging and aged population.

[July 25] INTERVIEW WITH VTV1 ON 'INTEGRATION PROGRAM'
Aging has become a recent policy issue in Vietnam, so that learning goods and bads from other countries is necessary. I was interviewed by VTV1 for the program 'Hoi Nhap' (Integration). The interview will be brocasted on Tuesday 3 August at 21:30, and rebrocasted on Wednesday 4 August at 7:30.

[July 20] PARTICIPATION ON WORLD CONGRESS ON AGING...
During 25-28 August I will participate in the Global Congress on Aging and Intergeneration, held by the World Demographic and Ageing Forum (WDA) and funded by the Swiss Development Agency. A number of keynotes and papers will be presented to exchange information on demographic changes and aging in all corners of the world.

[July 16] IRC MONTHLY WORKSHOP IN JULY...
On 15 July I made a presentation on demographic dividend and aging in Vietnam using NTA approach. The presentation showed that Vietnam would have a 'golden' opportunity to reap demograhic dividend for about 30 years, but it would also be challenged by aging population.

[July 6] IRC MONTHLY WORKSHOP IN JULY
On 15 July IRC will hold the third monthly workshop. I will present a research on demographic dividend and aging in Vietnam with some initial estimates using NTA approach. Please feel free to register with IRC for this workshop 

[Jun 20] VIETNAM HAS BECOME A MEMBER OF GLOBAL NTA PROJECT
After the workshop in EWC, Vietnam's team led by myself has become a member of the Global National Transfer Accounts (NTA) Project. More than 30 teams have been the members of this huge project. Next year, the Global Meeting will be tentatively held in June in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.


[Jun 3] WORKSHOP AND TRAINING COURSE AT EAST-WEST CENTER, HAWAII
During 6-18 June 2010, I will participate in the workshop and training course on 'Population Aging and Generational Economy' at the East-West Center of University of Hawaii. This course will provide technical and analytical skills for the participants in providing estimates for an aging population and generational relation in economic terms. It is under National Transfer Account Project. See more about NTA.

[May 28, 2010] IRC RESEARCH TEAM IS WORKING ON 2010 MDGs...
Under the MPI, IRC research team is now working on the Vietnam's 2010 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This report is the key document reflecting how Vietnam has implemented and pursued a number of social and economic indicators. The final draft will be available from this August.

[May 22, 2010] IRC RESEARCH TEAM IS WORKING ON BACKGROUND STUDIES FOR NHDR2010...
IRC is now working on various background studies for the Vietnam's 2010 National Human Development Report, which is one of the most important socio-economic report. A number of topics are discussed, including those on public spending and quality of social service delivery in education and healthcare.

[May 16, 2010] IRC SECOND MONTHLY WORKSHOP WAS SUCCESSFUL...
In the IRC second workshop, we had participation of the researchers from various institutions, particularly from Scientific Research Center of Vietnam Social Security (VSS). Dr. Paulette Castel presented one of her joint papers on voluntary social insurance with the data collected from a survey in Nghe An province. A number of interesting findings were presented and commented. You can access the paper and presentation here

[May 07, 2010] IRC SECOND MONTHLY WORKSHOP 
On 12 May 2010, IRC will hold the second monthly seminar. This time, we will invite Dr. Paulette Castel, an international advisor to Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA) of MoLISA, to present about possibility for expanding the voluntary social insurance in Vietnam. The workshop will be held from 2:00 pm at IRC seminar room. Presentation and paper will be uploaded soon.
